IMPAC FAQ

What is a PAC?

Political Action Committee (PAC), is a popular term for a political committee organized for the purpose of raising and spending money to elect and defeat candidates.

What is IMPAC?

The Illinois State Medical Society Political Action Committee (IMPAC), is a separate, voluntary, non-partisan, not-for-profit committee comprised of Illinois physicians and their spouses.

IMPAC gives 100% of contributions to help elect physician-friendly candidates into Illinois’ legislature and executive offices.

How does IMPAC identify physician-friendly candidates?

The IMPAC Council reviews many factors in determining “IMPAC-supported candidates” including, but not limited to:
  • The record of incumbents in their support for and cooperation with physicians on health care matters
  • The input of local physicians
  • And the candidates viability to conduct a competitive campaign with an expectation of victory

Why should I contribute to IMPAC?

IMPAC needs your help to elect candidates who understand and are sympathetic to the practice pressures challenging today’s physician – and to defeat those candidates who are not.

IMPAC’s purpose is to protect YOU, your PRACTICE, and your PATIENTS.
